Just before 6:30 PM on Thursday, June 13, a 58-year-old male security guard at a clothing store on Broadway was checking bags as customers left the store. When a 29-year-old male customer approached the exit, the guard asked to check his bag. As the guard was checking the customer's bag, the customer shoved the guard to the ground and fled on foot. The guard pursued the customer to West 67th Street, where he again tried to search the customer's bag. The customer began to punch the guard in his face and kicked him to prevent the resolute security staffer from searching the bag. Police arrived on the scene, and the customer was found to be in possession of stolen dress shoes valued at $240. The customer was arrested on June 13 and charged with robbery.
