A man's truck was stolen even as he was loading it. At 6:20 PM on Saturday, Aug. 3, a 56-year-old man was loading bed and bath merchandise into his pickup on West 65th Street. He had left his key in the ignition with the engine off. Suddenly, an unknown person entered the vehicle and drove away eastbound. The van owner chased the thief as he drove around the block to West 66th Street. The owner then lost sight of the vehicle as it sped off southbound on Broadway. Police searched the area with the owner, but were unable to locate the truck. Items stolen included merchandise valued at $35,000, plus the man's white 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup with New York plates, worth $6,000.
