Fairy Festival

. . . . . . .

Get out the ribbons and lace, crystals and magic powders, the first Fairy Festival and Medieval Ball surfaces in Park Slope, hosted by lords, ladies as well as mythical beings. If you have a thing for belly dancers—they got ‘em, along with a slew of other hip shaking events. Various vendors will of course be on hand to supply you with all the fairy dust and magic supplies you need. While the event isn’t strictly pagan, “Little Pagans,” “Rosemon’s Cottage” and members of the Rising Phoenix coven are attending to both enchant and intrigue visitors. Even children can participate in workshops just for them, such as belly dancing classes and face painting. The evening ends with Middle Eastern and African drummers, fire performers and swordplay by the NY Knights. All proceeds benefit the under-funded dancers and production staff of “Night of 1000 Goddesses,” an evening of mythical dance and storytelling, slated for later in the year. Time to show that pixie pride.

July 15. Camp Friendship, 339 8th St. (near 6th Ave.), Park Slope, Brooklyn; 3-8, $5-$10 (Performers and volunteers enter free), www.chovexani.com/fariyfest.htm.
