Indie rock band Oxford Collapse is breaking up and they will have
one final performance in the city. The band issued a statement saying:
"After eight years, 450 shows, and four albums, we’ve decided that we’ve
reached the end of the line. To paraphrase the Grateful Dead, 'what a
long, strange, eye-opening, stomach-bursting, heart-breaking,
bittersweet, educational, enlightening, mind-numbing,
‘why-are-we-doing-this-shit?’ / ‘who-gets-to-do-this-shit?,’ absurd,
amazing trip it’s been.' To paraphrase another sage poet, 'you gotta
know when to hold ‘em and know when to fold ‘em.'"
Their A&R rep Susan Busch said "Everyone has been living in different places for a bit now. I think it was just a natural evolution for them to start seeking out new opportunities."
Their
last performance in New York City will be at 9 on Saturday, July
18 at Collective Hardware. The venue is located at 169 Bowery. They
will be playing with CaUSE co-MOTION!, The Beets and Rape Excape and
tickets are $10.
