The Project Girl Performance Collective attempts to empower young women by creating a safe space to address contemporary social, political, and cultural issues through the performing arts.

Their newest show, Project Girl Congo, addresses the atrocities of war and rape affecting women in the Congo in a show that is entirely written and performed by girls and women aged 8-21. The show combines theatre, dance, music, monologues, poetry, and activism. It was created in partnership with youth leaders in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The show will run Friday Oct 21, 2011 @ 6:00 pm and Saturday Oct 22, 2011 @6:00 pm as part of the The Estrogenius Festival @ Manhattan Theatre Source
