Rosenthal chair of contracts committee

Newly elected councilwoman Helen Rosenthal has been named chair of the City Council's Committee on Contracts.

The committee is responsible for reviewing the city's procurement policies and procedures and has oversight over government contracts.

Rosenthal represents City Council District 6 on the Upper West Side and Central Park. Prior to being elected she was a community activist for public schools and affordable housing and a member of Community Board 7. She also served as an assistant director in the city's Office of Management and Budget under mayors Ed Koch, David Dinkins and Rudy Giuliani.
