SCHOOL CLOSURE LACKED TRANSPARENCY

to the editor: the lack of department of education transparency is extremely frustrating ("'d'-grade middle school to close," dec. 11). every decision they make this way causes suspicion and bad feelings. they had to know this school would be closing when they made their rezoning and school move decisions (if they didn't, or only some there did, they are even bigger boobs than i thought). i supported the move of anderson into the computer school building, but i would have been more cautious if i had known that 44 were to close. someone could have had a much more comprehensive plan for the use of that building than to fill it up piecemeal. i certainly hope the department gives parents a say (and not just for show) about what replaces 44. anni smith upper west side letters have been edited for clarity, style and brevity.
