Seniors Walk the Red Carpet

The Carter Burden Center for the Aging's 12th annual fashion show

From when the first models took to the runway to the end-of-show standing ovation, audience members were delighted at the 12th Annual Fashion Show starring the seniors, volunteers and staff at The Carter Burden Center for the Aging's Luncheon Club on the Upper East Side. On October 24, 2013, the models walked the runway, escorted by dressed-to-the-nines gentlemen, to the sounds of applause and laughter filling the room.

Emceed by William Dionne, The Carter Burden Center's Executive Director, senior models were stunning in their own formal wear and hand-knit fashions. Complete with professional hair and make-up done by volunteers, the divas were delighted with the warm reception of their peers and posed for the many flashing cameras.

The Carter Burden Center's Luncheon Club provides hot meals, served restaurant-style, to hundreds of older people daily. The Club serves as a community beacon for seniors to gather, socialize and enjoy educational and recreational programs.

The Carter Burden Center for the Aging, Inc. is a non-profit agency established in 1971 by the late Carter Burden when he was a New York City Councilman. The mission is to promote the well being of seniors, 60 and older, through a continuum of services, advocacy and volunteer programs oriented to individual, family and community needs. The Carter Burden Center is dedicated to supporting the efforts of older people to live safely and with dignity.
