to the editor: if the new york city council had its way, there would be no circus in town. only in the land of oz (otherwise known as the new york city council), wouldlegislationproposed(for the third year in a row)supported by26 council membersto ban ringling brothers circus from performing in the big apple. consumers can vote with their pocketbooks by buying or not buying tickets to the circus.if council members are soconcerned about animal abuse, perhaps they could adopt one of thenumerous stray cats and dogs looking for a good home. terminate their employment via the ballot boxso theyhave toseek employment elsewhere in 2009. perhaps some can try out as circus clowns.
