According to the gay advocacy group [Lambda Legal], 20-year-old transgender Alyssa Rodriguez was refused her prescriptive hormone medication while in juvy in New York. Her lawsuit was filed last January against the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), citing physical and emotional distress as a result of having to go off her meds. Even worse, she was teased for her hairdo. Oh no he didn’t! As part of the settlement, OCFS has designated two facilities for transgender youths and is educating its staff about transgender-specific care. Rodriguez herself got $25 G for her trouble.
