The Addams Family Lurches onto Broadway

Rebecca Huval -

They’re still creepy and they’re still kooky. The upcoming Addams Family musical shared backstage interviews and a cast photo with Vanity Fair, proving that the actors will stay true to the undead hilarity of Charles Addams’s original New Yorker cartoons.

Gentlemen Broncos Bucked from Theaters

Rebecca Huval

Apparently, you need higher than a 14 percent rating on rottentomatoes.com for your movie to play nationwide. Who’d have guessed films have to be coherent before they reach us? Fox Searchlight yanked Gentlemen Broncos from theaters beyond the two in L.A. and New York where it debuted after reviewers creamed the film. Here’s a sample of the carnage: “If you didn't know otherwise, you'd swear that Gentlemen Broncos was made by a disaffected high school student — and not a particularly talented one,” writes Claudia Puig in USA Today.

Bloomberg Sours on Flavored Tobacco

Rebecca Huval -

Take a long drag of your Warm Mocha Mint Cigar - it might be the last you buy in the city. Mayor Michael Bloomberg signed the ban on flavored tobacco into law yesterday. But before you hyperventilate, read the fine print: the ban doesn’t include clove or menthol cigarettes or even flavored hookah.

In Lastest Alice in Wonderland Trailer, Burton Trippy as Ever

Rebecca Huval -

In case anyone doubted Tim Burton’s trippiness, the latest Alice in Wonderland trailer oozes with opium-hazed hallucinations and acid-saturated colors that stay true to Lewis Carroll’s, ahem, inspirations. The trailer is released just weeks before MoMa’s Burton retrospective will show how the artist and storyteller became the goth darling he is today.

Har We Go

Rebecca Huval -
Sean Tillman has been a sex god for years. Whether performing as Har Mar Superstar—as he will tonight at Mercury Lounge in support of his new record, Dark Touches—as Sean Na Na or in his former band Calvin Krime, Tillman always puts on a show. And it’s not always just with music; just recently it was announced that he would be working with actor pal Ellen Page to pen a new HBO comedy. Rebecca Huval caught up with Tillman to talk Ron Jeremy, Minnesota and, um, nipple hair.
