Early in the afternoon of Thursday, April 4, the superintendent of a building on Amsterdam Avenue emerged from the building's rear door to access the garbage disposal area. He encountered an unknown man standing outside an open first-floor apartment window removing items. The super confronted the thief and called 911 from the scene. The burglar fled on foot towards Amsterdam Avenue. Police conducted a canvas of the area but were unable to find the perpetrator. The female tenant of the burglarized apartment was at work when the theft occurred. Items stolen included a ceramic bowl and various nail polishes.
