Bronx Blaze Survivor To Sue City?
Mamadou Soumare, one of the men who lost his family in last [Marchs Bronx inferno], moved to file a $100 million negligence lawsuit against the city yesterday, filing a notice of claim reserving his right to pursue the matter in the future. The claim charges that the Fire Department failed to [respond in a timely manner](http://www.ny1.com/ny1/content/index.jsp?stid=1&aid=70638), listing potential defendants as the FDNY, Department of Buildings, the Department of Housing and [Moussa Magassa](http://www.nypress.com/20/13/informationagent/agent5.cfm)the homeowner who also lost five children. [Mayor Bloomberg](http://www.nypost.com/seven/06132007/news/regionalnews/bloomy__fire_suits_just_smoke_regionalnews_maggie_haberman.htm) noted that the FDNYs response time of 3 minutes and 23 seconds once a neighbor called 911 was well within the range for which the department strives, adding, I dont think theres any basis for a suit and I dont know that theres going to be a suit. The New York Daily News reports that, despite his actions, Soumare [doesnt want to sue](http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2007/06/13/2007-06-13_i_dont_want_to_sue_says_bronx_man_who_lo-2.html), saying, This is not what I want, the city and firefighters were so good to us. His lawyer, Michael Wildes, explained that his client has no hard feelings towards the city, but the claim will give investigators time to determine whether anyone is liable for the fire.
