DNC Blasts Rudy's Mayoral Record

| 11 Nov 2014 | 01:37

Yesterday the Democratic National Committee released a full dossier of criticisms of Rudy Giuliani's record on taxes and other fiscal issues during his eight years as mayor.

"Once again, Rudy Giuliani has tried to dupe voters by touting a fiscal record that never came to pass," said DNC Press Secretary Stacie Paxton. "While Rudy Giuliani has claimed that he would reverse the 'culture of spending' in Washington, the truth is that a culture of spending and fiscal recklessness thrived under his watch. How can voters trust him to tell the truth about his candidacy if he is willing to mislead them about his record as mayor?"

The charges include increased spending, government waste and a failure to sign a refusal to raise taxes. Given the tone of the release and the nature of its criticisms it sounds more like it came from the conservative Club for Growth than the DNC. And wouldn't you know it, the DNC quotes the Club for Growth to close the release.
