Local 'Pork' Lovers
Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has just sent out a list of what they see as the ten worst individual "pork barrel" projects in the House version of the Fiscal 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations Act.
Of course, New York is represented...and from both sides of the aisle.
Upstate Republican Rep. James Walsh gets a nod as a taxpayer-money-waster for requesting $500,000 for the Girl Scouts of America for the "Fair Play initiative to engage girls in science, technology, engineering, and math." He also gets hit by CAGW for another $250,000 request for a technology upgrade at Syracuse library.
Manhattan Democrat Jerrold Nadler's (pictured) big waste, according to CAGW? Requesting $150,000 for Jazz at Lincoln Center. More [here].
