New Mysterious Odor: Blame The Dog
A few days after a mysterious gaseous odor passed over Manhattan and parts of New Jersey, [Staten Island received its own little ][stinker]. The Daily News reports that the offensive stench seemed to be emitted by Curtis High School in St. George, and firefighters and city Department of Environmental Protection officials made haste to figure out the cause - but to no avail. Air tests revealed that the smell wasnt harmful to humans (but were not sure about the other critters found in high schools). DEP spokesman Charles Sturcken said the smell seemed to be some sort of petroleum-based substance but no specific cause has been pinpointed. The big stink in NYC has yet to be identified; New Jersey is not taking the blame for this one.
