New Secret Service Practice: Question Every Kid Who Jokes About Offing Dubya

The New York Post reports that a Manhattan high-school freshman received a visit from the Secret Service after making a wisecrack to a student reporter about [assassinating our good ol’ Commander in Chief], George W. Bush. Oh please, hasn't everyone made a joke about killing the prez during one administration or another? We suppose the guy in the pic should be investigated, too, huh? Good thing he's wearing a mask! Anyhoo, it seems Irving Miqui, 14, commented to the reporter at Bayard Rustin Educational Complex in Chelsea that he wanted to shoot the president to become “a national hero.” Hardy ha ha.

The a student magazine ran the comment in a piece titled, “How long does it take to really live?” in which five students answered questions of how they would spend their last 24 hours alive. Miqui also said he’d like to spend time with the fam. Here’s the quote: “But before all of that, I would like to shoot George W. Bush, because in my opinion he is the worst president ever. After that was accomplished, I would be known as a national hero.” If you think about it, he's really paying the guy a compliment—few people who opt to spend their last minutes on this earth anywhere near George W. But the Secret Service is notorious for both focusing on the negative and not having a sense of humor, so a couple of federal agents showed up at the kid’s Washington Heights home two weeks ago to question his loyalities.

Bayard Principal John Angelet basically said woops, and added that he was also shocked by a teacher’s comment that underage drinking was OK. Well, we all know where this country is going.
