Shays To Face 2008 Dem Challenge

Connecticut Rep. Chris Shays (pictured) is the only remaining Republican congressman in all of New England.

Today Jim Himes, an affordable housing executive and community activist, made it official and announced that he will take on Shays in 2008 on the Democratic line.

"For too long, Chris Shays has been single-mindedly focused on promoting President Bush's failed policy on the war in Iraq and has grown out of touch with the hard-working families in our community," said Himes. "I am running for Congress to right his wrongs and take our community and our country in a new direction.”
