Another Candidate Throws Hat in Race for Tom Duane's Seat

It appears that Brad Hoylman's path to the New York Senate will not be entirely clear. A woman named Tanika Inlaw has been going to Manhattan Democratic club meetings this week and pitching her candidacy for retiring West Side State Sen. Tom Duane's seat, according to a couple Manhattan sources. There is also now a "Elect Tanika Inlaw, Senator of the 29th district in NYC" [Facebook page](http://www.facebook.com/groups/450874201591212/), which contains the following message: "Tom Duane the state senate for the 29th district in NYC announced yesterday that he will not be running for re-election and I Tanika Inlaw have decided to go for it!!!! I just did my first speech in front of the Chelsea Dem Club asking for their endorsement. I took one step in faith and God will carry me the rest of the way". I'm still waiting to hear back from Inlaw, and will update with more info about her as it can be confirmed. Though it looks like Hoylman now has a primary, he has already lined up much of the establishment support so far in the race, getting the backing of the Ansonia Democratic Club, Chelsea Reform Democrats, Village Reform Democratic Club and Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club, Hoylman said in an email. Hoylman will also be seeking the all-but-certain support of the Downtown Independent Democrats this evening. To read more from City and State [click here](http://www.cityandstateny.com).
