Last week, in an article titled "Cancer Center Moves Ahead, With Some Opposition," we incorrectly reported that Community Board 8's MSK-CUNY Task Force voted to approve a zoning text amendment sought by Memorial Sloan Kettering and the City University of New York in relation to a planned new cancer center at East 73rd Street. The task force did not vote to approve this amendent as we originally reported. In fact, the task force voted to approve a resolution that opposes the zoning text amendment. The vote was 12 in favor, 6 opposed, with one abstention.

The text of the resolution reads in part: "Community Board 8, Manhattan, opposes the proposed text amendment included as part of the CUNY-MSK project. Be it further resolved that Community Board 8, Manhattan, reiterates its strong desire to have the CUNY-MSK project include public open space at or adjacent to its proposed construction project." The full board will have the opportunity to adopt the resolution in May.

Several community members rightfully called us to express their dismay at the error and point out the fervent opposition to the project among some local residents. We sincerely regret the reporting error.
