Ever since getting my hands on a press copy of The Walkmen's You & Me, I can't stop listening. There have been a few great albums released this year (Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago, Black Mountain - In The Future, Xiu Xiu - Women As Lovers), but none compare to what The Walkmen have accomplished on their fourth album of original material. It's a fully-realized, cohesive masterpiece, loaded with lush arrangements inspired by '50s legends like Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. Hamilton Leitheuser's voice contains more emotion and swagger than ever before, as the band conjures up something both warm and romantic, yet still rockin'.

Today, the band announced that they are making You & Me available exclusively for three weeks on [AmieStreet.com]. (It's physical release date is August 19.) The album can be purchased for just $5, with all of the money going directly to the [Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center](http://www.mskcc.org/) in honor of Luca Vasallo (a friend to the band and a current patient who is seven months old and doing a great job fighting a very difficult disease).

This is the second major album release to be part of [AmieStreet.com]'s Download To Make A Difference campaign, an initiative to give people the chance to support important causes by downloading new music.

How can you go wrong? $5 and you get the warm feeling of helping people, and also the best album of the year. [ ] [Purchase You & Me Here]

The Walkmen will be in town to play the Bowery Ballroom on August 18 and 19.
