    the new york society for ethical culture celebrated the 100th anniversary of its landmark central park west and west 64th street headquarters oct. 23. the organization held a rededication ceremony and premiered a short documentary, the meeting house, on the history of the society.

    the new york society for ethical culture is a non-religious humanist, ethical and educational movement founded in 1876 by felix adler. the group was the first such society to be founded in the united states.

    mayor michael bloomberg honored the society with a city proclamation that named oct. 23 new york society for ethical culture day.
