Giuliani Attacked In The Bronx (Verbally)

| 11 Nov 2014 | 01:35

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani was ambushed at a Bronx fundraiser by a group of activists who accused him of being [one of the “criminals of 9/11]." Outside City Island’s Sea Shore restaurant, Giuliani had just finished speaking with a reporter when a young woman, claiming to be the relative of a firefighter who died when the twin towers collapsed, confronted him, asking why he allegedly told Peter Jennings the towers would fall that day but did not stop firefighters’ and police officers’ rescue efforts at the site. “How do you sleep at night?” the activist asked the former Mayor. According to 1010 WINS, Giuliani was extremely polite and [denied the statement](http://www.1010wins.com/pages/514133.php?contentType=4&contentId=550914). Quote: “I didn't realize the towers would collapse.” He later added, “No one that I know of had any idea they would implode. That was a complete surprise.” See video of the confrontation [here](http://video.wnbc.com/player/?id=112179) and a transcript of what Giuliani actually told Jennings [here].

Sally Regenhard, Chairperson of The Skyscraper Safety Campaign, along with other 9/11 families, have planned another protest for 5 p.m. today outside a Giuliani fundraiser in Bay Ridge. The could-be-would-be president plans to raise $500,000 for his campaign while in the city. Now that's what I call a birthday present.
