Grandmother Leaves Hospital

Ariel Russo's grandmother left St. Luke's Hospital on a stretcher June 26, The Daily News reported. Katia Gutierrez, the grandmother, had been walking with her granddaughter, 4, on West 97th Street near Amsterdam Avenue when both allegedly were struck June 4 by an SUV that was fleeing police. Russo was killed but Gutierrez had been recovering from injuries sustained during the crash. "I'm devastated," said Gutierrez, 55, as she was taken out of St. Luke's Hospital. Tears rolled down her face. The crash occurred while they were en route to Russo's school.
