Home Alone, But Without the Macaulay

Apparently, a Staten Island new mom needed a drink so badly that she left her 11-month-old son home without supervision while she paid a visit to her favorite watering hole on Sunday.  [Evelyn Gaft, 31, was found passed out in a cab after her two-plus-hour ][drinking binge and was subsequently arrested]. She’s been charged with child endangerment in Staten Island Criminal Court. It seems Gaft was already a bit tipsy when she called a cab to pick her up at her place in New Springville and bring her to another apartment to further get her drink on. Two and half hours later, the cabbie picked her up and drove her home, during which she, um, took a quick nap in the backseat of the car. The cabbie called 911 and cops soon discovered baby Joseph asleep in the home. The Daily News reports that police asked Gaft if she had a child, to which she responded, “I don’t know.” The baby, who was not harmed in the making of this escapade, is now with Gaft’s sister, also in Staten Island.(http://flickr.com/photos/awfulshot/)
