Keeping Your Local Bodega Free of Shootings

    Citing a recent rash of robberies in his eastern corner of The Bronx, City Councilman Jimmy Vacca will propose today the expansion of "Operation Safe Store," a pilot program created three years ago which installs cameras in bodegas to help prevent would be thieves and to catch those who act on their nefarious instincts.

    "It is extremely important for the city and the Association to work together in a joint program to reduce the number of attacks on local stores. A safe shopping environment is critical for the continued success of Bronx businesses and the economic vitality of the borough," said Vacca.

    There are more than 10,000 bodegas across the city
