NYU Young Republicans Play INS

A student Republican club at [New York University] is getting flack for hosting a ["Find the Illegal Immigrant"](http://wcbstv.com/politics/local_story_052083020.html) game on campus tomorrow. Gee, I wonder why. But reattach your jaw to your skull, it's make believe. Students wearing “INS” nametags will compete for a gift certificate by being the first to find a club member wearing a nametag with the words “illegal immigrant” on it. Doesn’t sound like the most challenging game but …

The New York Daily News reports: “Other students at the high-priced school have bombarded club officials with e-mails branding the event ‘racist’ and ‘disgusting.’ Some students plan to counter the game with a protest.”

The protest, to be composed of 300 or more marchers, will probably include a liberal spin on the game called “Find the Conservative Republican.” Well maybe not, but that’d be cool.

The club’s president told the Daily News: “It's not a racist event, first and foremost,” (maybe just secondarily?), “Just because we don't want illegal immigrants being able to completely disregard the laws of our country doesn't make us racist.” Riiight—but their taste in entertainment certainly seems to.
