Lost in the pageantry of today's Hillary Clinton news is the announcement that Republican Sam Brownback, the Senator from Kansas, [has formed his own exploratory committee] for the 2008 presidential elections. Brownback makes it clear in his announcement that he will be running from the right.

“I have decided, after much prayerful consideration, to consider a bid for the Republican nomination for the presidency,” said Brownback. “There is a real need in our country to rebuild the family and renew our culture and there is a need for genuine conservatism and real compassion in the national discussion.
