Pro Wrestler Dies In Murder-Suicide

Pro wrestler Chris Benoit [killed his wife and child] before [taking his own life](http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/more/06/25/wrestler.dead.ap/index.html?cnn=yes) this weekend in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities revealed today. Benoit strangled his wife on Friday and suffocated his seven-year-old son between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, eventually hanging himself in his weight room Sunday afternoon. Anabolic [steroids were found](http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/more/06/25/wrestler.dead.ap/index.html?cnn=yes) at the scene, leading to speculation about whether drugs played a role in the tragedy (although it is unclear if they are linked in any way). Benoit’s death continues a disturbing trend of professional wrestlers dying young: Just last year, 38-year-old WWE superstar [Eddie Guerrero died](http://www.nypress.com/18/47/sports/BenNichols.cfm) from painkiller abuse. Benoit was 40, and leaves behind two children from a previous marriage.
