Safe for the Taking

a commercial delivery driver had thousands of dollars stolen out of a safe kept in his truck oct. 11. police said the 22-year-old queens man parked his truck on the southwest corner of amsterdam avenue and west 73rd street at 8:20 p.m. he was making a delivery to a newsstand across the street. he told police he locked the safe inside the truck and closed the back door with a commercial lock. when he returned five minutes later, the lock was removed and the safe was open. the driver reported $9,714 missing.
