[Magnolia Bakery]—the famed West Village cupcake corner known for its spot on “Sex and the City,” its heinously long lines and its obscene use of butter—was closed yesterday by the Health Department.

Citing [mouse droppings and fruit flies] near the garbage, health officials are requiring new bakery-owner Steve Abrams to [install a sink](http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2007/07/12/2007-07-12_city_sinks_famed_village_bakery.html) in the area where the cupcakes are iced and replace a missing door handle. A spokesman for Abrams, who bought the bakery back in January, told the Daily News, “Because the bakery has operated without this sink for the past 10 years, we were unfortunately unaware we were required to install this equipment.”

Don’t panic, [amNY] reports that the Health Department gave Magnolia permission to reopen as soon as the problem is fixed, and [1010Wins](http://www.1010wins.com/pages/675799.php?contentType=4&contentId=684321) says that Magnolia’s managers have already installed a sink will be back to dishing out confections today. So you better get on line now.
