Loyola Senior Wins MAGIS award and Le Moyne Scholarship

Julia Suozzi, an Upper East Side resident and Loyola High School senior, recently received the Magis award, an award for student leadership and citizenship, as well as a $10,000 scholarship to Le Moyne College in Syracuse.

Suozzi, who spent this past summer training her teachers in the usage of the school's new Ipads and teaching apps, has a lot on her plate: she excels in math and computers, plays volleyball, sings in her school choir and plays piano. She also spends her afternoons doing community service at a soup kitchen.

Despite her long resume, Suozzi was surprised when she found out she had won a prestigious award.

"When they called my name I wasn't expecting it; I really didn't think that it would be me," said Suozzi. "It was really overwhelming."

Suozzi's first choice for college is Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. She wants to major in engineering.
