The Human Giant Make Other Funny People Laugh with Jokes about 'Lazy Rape,' Val Kilmer

The Internet rumblings of The Office’s [Mindy Kaling] appearance in last night’s kick off show for the Human Giant national tour turned out to just that, no doubt disappointing the legions of NYU kids who waited out in the cold for a performance from the acclaimed actress and writer.

However, there was a lot that didn’t disappoint, like an opening stand-up set from the Daily Show/Saturday Night Live alum Rob Riggle, who looked like a comfortably disheveled dad in his well-worn Kansas City Chiefs hoodie and relaxed-fit jeans. The stocky ex-Marine eye-fucked every ragingly heterosexual man in the room before launching into tales of the demonstrated intellectual discourse between Giants and Patriots fans. Clearly, the Algonquin Roundtable would have been the appropriate venue for his pantomime of a Patriots fan wiping his ass with a Giants hat, but the [UCB] would have to do.

After Riggle warmed up the crowd, the well-caffeinated members of [The Human Giant] (Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel and gap toothed VH1 talking head Paul Scheer) emerged onto the stage in basketball shorts and brandishing the T-shirt propelling Uzis commonly brandished by sports mascots. The trio made the crowd enthusiastically recite a verbal affidavit promising not to sue upon injury before firing the projectile t-shirts into the crowd.

The rest of the night was comprised of a mix of live sketches and projections of previously recorded sketches featuring guest stars such as SNL’s Andy Samberg, Brian Posehn and Dr. Katz/Home Movies star H. Jon Benjamin. One of the highlights of performance came from Aziz Ansari’s solo stand up performance which some how made his lethargic pelvic thrusting rendition of the “lazy rape” of MTV male dating show contestants seem downright endearing, but I guess everything is endearing when the comedian is three apples tall.

However, just as Aziz was tying up his bit on how his urge to Google random trivia behind the wheel of his car will eventually lead to his demise, the joke was derailed by an unexpected piece of audience participation.

“So, I was at a stop light and just had to check imdb to see if Val Kilmer was in Willow…”

“I LOOOOOOOVE VAL KILMER!!!” bellowed an anonymous male audience member.

Upon being confronted on his outburst, the audience member then bellowed to the delight of himself and absolutely no one else, “I LOOOOOOVE WILLOW”

“I’m sure you do” Aziz muttered before resigning himself to the fact that his bit was officially derailed.

Unfortunately for the audience, Aziz had too much decorum to strangle him with the “More Cowbell” t-shirt the heckler surely must own.

The second season of Human Giant premiere on MTV on March 11th.
