Unstable Passengers Beat Cabbie

Yesterday, [a taxi driver was beaten and then robbed by his two passengers after telling them he didn’t know how to get to their desired destination]. I’m sure it’s exceedingly disappointing after a long, hard day not to be able to get where you’re going at lightning speed, but a little patience, please. According to police, Gilbert Ruiz, 26, and Christopher Lopez, 22, hailed 42-year-old Frederick Dsouza’s cab on 2nd Ave. and E. 86th St. at approximately 2:15 a.m. When Dsouza said he wasn’t familiar with the Bronx addressed they requested, Ruiz opened the driver side door and slugged him; he proceeded to throw a backpack (presumably Dsouza’s) to the ground and when the driver got out of the car and tried to retrieve it, Ruiz and Lopez beat him until he lost consciousness. Moral: If you’re a cabbie, make sure you know where you’re going. OK, well really that’s just good advice in a strange and unpredictable world.(http://flickr.com/photos/lpq/)
