In a quiet race for a spot on the Democratic Party's state committee, Larry Hirsch, president of the Community Free Democrats, ousted longtime incumbent Robert Ginsberg. Hirsch said he decided to run for a committee position to have a hand in organizing the local party and pushing a progressive agenda at the state level. "I want the state committee have a visible local presence, a resource for local democratic organizations and grassroots organizers," Hirsch said. Hirsch was endorsed by five of six district leaders in the area, two of the three area Democratic clubs, Assembly Members Adam Clayton Powell IV and Adriano Espaillat, and Council Member Miguel Martinez.
