A GIFT OF TULIPS

Last week, Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe (center) planted some of the 50,000 orange Manhattan tulips that were donated to the city by the Netherlands American Community Trust and the International Bulb Company of New Jersey. Benepe was joined by fellow gardeners from the New Amsterdam Boys and Girls Choir of Harlem. The tulips will bloom in Central Park next spring, in honor of the 400th anniversary of the Dutch settlement in New York City. Photo By: Andrew Schwartz
