Albert Hammond Jr. Rocks a Packed Webster Hall
It seems like Albert Hammond Jr. plays at least once a week in New York City, but until last nights show at Webster Hall, I had yet to catch him play. The club filled with young worshipers, many of which filled with hope that the rest of Alberts Strokes band mates would join him on stage for a song or two. Hammond Jr. didnt need the rest of the Strokes to set the room on fire, but his ultra-tight backing band sure helped. Playing songs off of his recent debut album, Yours to Keep, and throwing in a huge cover of The Cars Cant Cha Stop, they entertained the crowd with a spiraling 3-guitar attack. As someone relatively unfamiliar with his solo work, I was blown away by how good it was, although pretty similar to The Strokes. If you like The Strokes, go see Albert Hammond Jr. You wont be disappointed.
