Apartment Scam

A man reported to police that a woman scammed him out of $1,800 after he tried to rent an apartment from her in July. He told police Aug. 2 that he deposited the money at a Chase Bank on 2219 Broadway and West 79th Street. When he tried to enter the apartment, he was told it was not for rent. The $1,800 had already been withdrawn and placed into the bank account of the woman, who lives on West 73rd Street between Amsterdam and Columbus avenues.
