Friday, March 26 Modern Conversation's As part of its â??Arts, Culture and Fun series, the Parks Department presents its second â??Birth of Modern Art multimedia presentation. Calder Zwicky, community outreach coordinator for the Museum of Modern Art, shows slides from the museum"s permanent collection of modern masterpieces and talks about their significance. Renaissance Rock's The Tallis Scholars, a renaissance choral group, perform a concert of Franco-Flemish sacred choral works. The U.K.-based group, directed by Peter Phillips, is renowned for its promotion and execution of renaissance music. St. Bartholomew"s Church, 325 Park Ave., 212-378-0222; 7:30 p.m., $20 to $100. Ukulele Jam's The novel musical act Ukulele Cabaret moves from its downtown location to a new spot on the Upper West Side. Dozens of performers join the act to croon and strum, creating an eclectic night of musical stylings from 1960s rock to Hawaiian standards and classical. Saturday, March 27 Decorate's Sokol New York, a non-profit organization that runs gymnastics, Tae Kwon Do, dance and other sports programs for children, hosts an egg decorating class in the tradition of Czech and Slovak folk art. Learn this old world craft from renowned artist Marj Nejdl of the Czech & Slovak Museum in Cedar Rapids. Church Market's The New York Buddhist Church hosts a white elephant sale to raise funds for church renovations. Part flea market and part silent auction, the event features vendors selling new and used treasures, household goods and jewelry, as well as silent bidding for more valuable items. Japanese food, baked goods and drinks are sold throughout the day. Six selected short videos, three chosen by popular vote and three by the museum, are shown as part of the museum"s series Slash: Paper Under the Knife, which showcases unique uses of cut paper as an artistic medium. A portion of the day"s proceeds will be donated to Green Hand Action, a non-profit organization that plants trees in Guinea, West Africa. Sunday, March 28 Passover Fun's David Grover and Grover"s Gang perform a family Passover concert perfect for children ages 3 to 9. Music on Madison's The Saint Andrew Music Society presents a Palm Sunday concert of Haydn"s â??The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross. Joined by the accomplished American string group The Bavia Quartet, members of the professional choir of the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church sing an arrangement of the classic composition for soloists, choir and strings. Lenten Concert's Sinfonia New York, a newly formed period instrument orchestra, performs â??A Pergolesi Offering: Music of Sacrifice and Redemption, in honor of the 300th birthday of the composer Pergolesi. Monday, March 29 Holy Monday Concert's The Holy Trinity Concert Series continues its Monday concerts with a performance of François Couperin"sˆ â??Leçons de TÃ&Copy;nèbres ˆ (Lessons of Darkness). Sopranos Jennifer Bates and Sarah Brailey join Carlene Stober on viola da gamba and Rick Erickson on the organ. The work was composed in the 18th century for the liturgies of Holy Week. Tuesday, March 30 Planet Exploration's Learn about planets and stars at the Hayden Planetarium Space Theater"s â??Celestial Highlights: Inferior Planets with Joe Rao. Using the star projector, Rao leads gazers through the western sky, showing Mars, Venus and early spring constellations, as well as positions of the moon and other special bodies. Thursday, April 1 Brazilian Beats's Lincoln Center presents the New York debut of the Brazilian 10-piece band Orquestra Contemporânea de Olinda, at the David Rubenstein Atrium. Part of the Target Free Thursdays concert series, the performance features the group"s blend of Latin, Afro and Brazilian grooves that earned them a 2009 Latin Grammy Award nomination.
