Cop Assaulted

    A police officer was assaulted while responding to a 911 call March 1 at 10:27 p.m. The officer and his partner were in the sixth-floor stairwell inside a building on West 63rd Street and West End Avenue. Brian Byers, 41, allegedly threw a book at the two officers, hitting one in the face. The book fractured his left wrist as well. Byers ran to the roof, where he was arrested. The 30-year-old officer was taken to Roosevelt Hospital, police said.
