This past December, Courtney Love, the punk rocking widow of grunge icon Kurt Cobain, was facing eviction from her West Village Townhouse after her landlord claimed she owed 2 months in back rent. The suit, filed by building owner Donna Lyon, was thrown out of court yesterday by a Manhattan Housing Court judge. The judge determined that Love was acting in accordance with an agreement that she had made with Lyon after the lease was signed. The agreement altered the pay schedule which altered the pay schedule. The original lease schedule called for the annual rent of $324 thousand to be paid in two six month installments. The court granted Love's motion to dismiss her land lord's claims of an owed $54 thousand in back rent when it was determined that she was on time with her rent. "Courtney is not being evicted, as the court properly determined the lawsuit was incorrectly filed in the first place," said her attorney Eric Sherman.
