Credit card fraud

    In the afternoon of June 1, a 34-year-old woman living on 86th Street reported that she had received a Sears card in the mail for an account that she had not opened. She had also received a Toys "R" Us card for an unauthorized account opened using her name, Social Security number, and other personal information. The cards were created and used fraudulently in Wilmington, NC. The woman has notified her credit bureaus of the fraud. Unauthorized charges to her counterfeit accounts amounted to $4,840 at Sears and $588 at Toys "R" Us, for a total of $5,428.
