CRIME GROUPS GET AWARD

    three west side crime prevention groups received the metlife foundation community police partnership award on nov. 6. the national award acknowledged the success of the westside crime prevention program, lincoln square neighborhood center and 20th precinct for their work with senior citizens at amsterdam houses and amsterdam addition. the west side honorees were chosen from more than 650 other community-police partnerships across the country.

    "empowering residents to take part in sustaining safety gains is so key," said julia ryan, director of the community safety initiative, which administers the award. "we are honored to learn from and share the partnership's best practices."
