Uneasy RidersAt 2:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, a 47-year-old woman and her daughter were riding a southbound 6 train from 96th Street. The mother was standing by the door with her zipped purse over her left shoulder. She noticed a 30-year-old man getting close on her left side, and she moved away from him. The subway doors opened at 86th Street, and a second 30-year-old man bumped into her on her right side, causing her to move up close again to the first man. The two young men then rushed off the train. The woman then realized that her purse had been unzipped and her wallet was gone. She and her daughter exited the train and reported the incident, but a search of the area failed to turn up the two thieves. She subsequently canceled the credit cards in the stolen wallet but learned that an attempt had been made to buy $800 of merchandise at a local Best Buy store and another purchase had been attempted at a CVS. Police are investigating.

Subsequently, a 25-year-old man from Camden, N.J., entered the store and tried to buy four pairs of Giuseppe Zanotti women’s shoes valued at $4,542.91 using the same woman’s credit card.
