Parlous Parlour

A pub may not be as hospitable a place to bring your laptop as a coffee bar. At 3 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, a 27-year-old man laid down his laptop at the Parlour Pub at 250 W. 86th Street. When he next looked for his compact computer, he found that it was gone. The machine was valued at $1,500.

Back Get

Once again, the back of a chair proves a very unsecure place to hang a purse. At 10 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, a 27-year-old woman was in the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf shop at 532 Amsterdam Avenue, when she hung her purse on the back of her chair. When she next looked for the bag, it was missing, along with her laptop and a cell phone with a total value of $1,600.

Anadanada Angst

Commercial establishments are as vulnerable to thieves as individuals. At 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, an unknown perpetrator entered the Spanish restaurant Anadanada at 141 W. 69th Street via a cellar door. The intruder proceeded to the restaurant’s office, before making off with an $800 Samsung laptop. Video is available of the incident.

Youth Trades One Cell for Another

Score one for the good guys in the fight against cell phone thieves. At 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, a 34-year-old woman was out walking at West 70th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, when a 16-year-old male youth ran by and grabbed her iPhone 5S. Fortunately, police were on the scene and arrested the young man, recovering the woman’s much-loved mobile.

Carruption

Remember, folks: a parked car is no place to park your valuables! At 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, someone broke into a car parked at 2050 Broadway, belonging to a 54-year-old woman. The unknown perpetrator made off with the woman’s iPhone, credit cards, keys, and other belongings. Video is available of the break-in.
