Neon church sign vandalizedManor Community Church’s sign was vandalized March 18 at 6:15 p.m. A church official told police that he was sitting in his office inside the West 26th Street church when he heard voices outside the building and then hear glass shattering. When he went outside the building, he didn’t see any of the suspects but the church’s neon sign was shattered. Damage to the sign is estimated at $1,500.

UCB employees threatened with ‘goons’A worker at the Upright Citizens Brigade on West 26th Street said that he and other employees were harassed by an unknown person repeatedly last week. The employee said that while at work, employees were receiving threatening phone calls from an unknown person who also started asking about the company’s policies. The man then proceeded to say, “Do you want to die tonight?” The victim added that the suspect said his “goons” would be coming to see them.

Man arrested for bitingPolice arrested a 37-year-old man for assault in front of 308 Eighth Avenue March 18 at 1:20 p.m. Police said that the suspect struck a 48-year-old man and bit him on his left arm, causing a cut. The two men did not know each other and no further information was available about how the fight started. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital for further evaluation.

Phone snatched on West 23rdA 20-year-old woman reported that her phone was stolen when she was getting out of a cab in front of the Leo House on West 23rd Street on March 17 at 7:30 p.m. She told police that she had the Samsung phone in her right hand and an unknown man grabbed it from her and ran west on Eighth Avenue. She said that she didn’t get a good look at the suspect.

Woman pickpocketed on M23A woman reported that she was pickpocketed while on the bus to Chelsea Piers at 12th Avenue March 18 at 11:30 a.m. She told police that she got on the M23 at West 23rd Street and Sixth Avenue heading to Chelsea Piers. She sat down in a seat when she got on and a man sat down next to her. She said that the man got off at Eighth Avenue and when she got off at Chelsea Piers, she realized that her wallet was gone from her jacket pocket. She told police that the man, who was about 60 years old, barricaded her in the seat with bags. No arrests have been made.
