Reade BleedIf Duane Reade became an online-only retailer, they would no longer have to worry about the shoplifting that plagues their brick-and-mortar locations. In the first of three separate incidents in just the past fortnight, two women and a man entered the Duane Reade at 2025 Broadway at 10 p.m. on Jan. 28, and grabbed $3,700 worth of Allegra and other medications.
Then at 8 a.m. on Jan. 31, a man stole $1,008 worth of makeup in the Duane Reade at 1889 Broadway.
Finally, four men entered the Duane Reade store at 2069 Broadway at 10 p.m. on Feb. 4, and made off with $1,036 worth of toothbrushes.
Hung Out to CryThere was no rest in a restroom for an area senior recently. At 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, a 72-year-old woman was shopping in the Trader Joe’s at 2073 Broadway when she hung up her bag while using the restroom. When she went to retrieve her bag it was gone, along with its contents, including credit cards and other items. No value was stated for the stolen belongings.
Iro WoeA quartet of shoplifters had designs on a designer jacket. At 2 p.m. on Sat. Feb. 4, two men and two women entered the IRO store at 241 Columbus Ave. and made off with a jacket valued at $3,000. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
