Seductive pickpocket arrested Police arrested a 25-year-old man for grand larceny at Ninth Avenue and West 16th Street early Saturday morning. The 24-year-old victim told police that when she was at the corner buying food from a street vendor, the suspect approached her and was trying to engage her in conversation. While he was putting his arm around her, he was actually removing her wallet from her bag. Police caught up to the suspect shortly thereafter. Police said that the suspect is a member of the Bloods street gang.
Wallet snatched at 14th Street stationA 34-year-old man reported that his wallet was stolen while he was on a downtown A train on Sunday at 4:45 a.m. inside the 14th Street station. He told police he was flipping through his billfold and then put it into his left jacket pocket. Just as the doors were opening at the 14th Street station, a man on the platform reached into his jacket pocket and took the wallet. No arrests have been made.
Man arrested for making threat with knifeA 19-year-old man was arrested for menacing Sunday at 8 p.m. on the corner of Dyer Avenue and West 36th Street. The 19-year-old victim told police that he and the suspect got into an argument during which the suspect showed a knife and threatened to slice the victim’s face. The victim said he thought the reason for the threat was that the suspect thought that the victim got him kicked out of the nearby LGBT shelter. The victim said that he is in fear of his safety.
cabbie robbedA taxi driver told police he was robbed on the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 23rd Street late Sunday morning. The driver said that he picked up a man at West 23rd between Seventh and Eighth Avenue who asked to be ferried to Brooklyn. Shortly into the trip, the passenger asked the cabby to lend him $80 for a package he needed to pick up. The driver did so, the passenger exited the taxi and never returned.
Vespa stolen from West 17th StreetA 34-year-old man told police his Vespa was taken from its parked spot in front of 450 West 17th St. sometime between Friday evening and noontime Saturday. He told police that he parked the vehicle on West 17th at 6 p.m. He said that the vehicle was in a legal spot and a check at the tow pound did not yield any results.
Woman tells police to arrest her, then resists Police arrested a 26-year-old woman after she interfered with the arrest of her boyfriend Saturday at 3 a.m. in front of 229 West 14th St. The suspect tried to prevent the arrest of her boyfriend by grabbing him, trying to stand between him and the officers and yelling, “arrest me.” When police attempted to put her in handcuffs, she flailed her arms to prevent officers from taking her into custody. The suspect was charged with an obstruction of government administration misdemeanor.
