Senior scammedA 68-year-old woman reported that she was scammed at the northeast corner of Eighth Avenue and West 28th Street Oct. 29 at 12:15 p.m. She told police that she was at the intersection when a man in a mechanic’s uniform told her to pull her car over because the engine was smoking. She pulled over and when the suspect pulled open the hood, it immediately started smoking. She said that he asked for $100 to repair the car and she later felt that she had been the victim of a scam.
Man arrested for threatsPolice arrested a 42-year-old homeless man for criminal possession of a weapon inside the Boston Market on 23rd Street Oct. 27 at 10:12 p.m. Police said that the suspect was inside the restaurant after he had been told to leave earlier and he started waving a silver kitchen knife at an employee. The man reportedly lunged toward the victim and said he was going to kill him.
Man busted for cash snatchingPolice arrested a 40-year-old man for grand larceny in front of 450 West 42nd Street Oct. 30 at 5 a.m. The victim told police that he had just left his apartment with $60 in cash in his hands when the suspect started talking to him. He told police that the man then grabbed the cash out of his hands and fled east on West 42nd Street. The suspect was identified by the victim after police searched the area and arrested him.
Men arrested on drug chargesPolice arrested two men, one 29, the other 22, who were allegedly conducting a drug deal in front of 86 Seventh Avenue on the early morning of Oct. 29. Police said that the two men were involved in a hand-to-hand transaction on a public sidewalk. They then got into an argument and police said that the older man grabbed the younger man’s wallet and credit card. When police approached him, the suspect reportedly began to resist arrest and a short chase ensued. The 29-year-old was charged with criminal possession of narcotic drugs with intent to sell, criminal possession of a controlled substance and grand larceny. The other suspect was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Man arrested for assaultPolice arrested a 27-year-old man for assault at the Port Authority station Oct. 28 around 8:35 p.m. The 23-year-old victim told police that he was sitting next to the suspect on an uptown E train around the 23rd Street station when the man, who he didn’t know, punched him.
