Dining fracasWhen is the customer NOT always right? When he starts throwing stuff! At 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, a 38-year-old male employee of the Seaport Deli at 64 Fulton Street got into a verbal dispute with a male customer. The customer then threw items at the deli worker, including his cellphone, hitting him in the face, injuring the worker slightly. The customer then fled.

Vendor RenderThese are tough times for downtown food cart vendors. At 2:25 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, a 56-year-old vendor at the southeast corner of King and Varick Streets was serving a young man at his cart when the youth told him to give him his money. The vendor refused and pulled out his cellphone to call police. The young man, said to be about 17, took the phone from the vendor’s hand and fled south on Varick before heading east on Charlton. The vendor was not injured. Police searched the area but couldn’t find the phone thief.

Nassau NastyA Brooklyn woman got off pretty lightly after a wallet snatching in the subway. At 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, a 23-year-old woman waiting for the northbound C train at the Nassau Street station felt her bag on her back being opened and sudden movements inside her bag. She turned around and saw a man in his 30s reaching inside her bag and taking her wallet. She screamed at the pickpocket and chased him from the platform to the middle corridor of the station and then back down to the A/C platform and finally back up to the corridor, at which point she lost the guy in the crowd. She also lost a MetroCard, IDs, a Social Security card and a €20 note.

Hard PressedSometimes it can be too much minding both your children and your belongings. At 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, a 34-year-old woman entered the Juice Press store at 83 Murray Street with her children. She took out her debit card from her wallet to pay for their food and then sat at a table, placing her wallet on a chair. Apparently distracted by her children, she left the location with the tots, leaving her wallet on the chair. Realizing her loss, she returned to the store, where management reviewed security video revealing one of the employees taking the wallet. Further information on the sticky-fingered employee was unknown at the time of the police report. The items stolen included a Chanel flap wallet valued at $1,050, a MetroCard worth $20, $10 in cash, debit cards, and house keys. In addition, charges in the amount of $244 appeared on the woman’s American Express card account, making a total missing of $1,324.

Specs AppealAt 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, a 30-year-old woman entered the chain’s location at 157 Spring Street and took three pairs of sunglasses off the display rack. While the store employee was occupied otherwise, the woman then placed the glasses into a brown shopping bag and left the store without paying. Police searched the area but couldn’t locate the shady customer. The three stolen pairs of sunglasses were valued at $1,350.
